I've moved into a new house. We have a freeview box in the lounge downstairs and this signal is fantastic. But, upstairs in our bedroom, we have the aerial lead and another freeview box but can't get a signal. Do I need an aerial booster or something? Help!Moved into new house, tv aerial, but no signal?
My guess would be that the previous residents took the TV amplifier with them (and connected the aerial straight through to the lounge cable. You can get a new one at Argos - not too expensive.
Alternatively, it could be that the bedroom TV is fed-through from the lounge (so that a VCR or Sky box could be watched on both TVs). If this is the case, there will most-likely be an additional double-aerial outlet in the lounge. ( The signal from the aerial would then go through the Sky box and VCR, in the lounge, and BACK up to an amplifier to be distributed around the house.)
If you have these additional sockets, you could try removing the aerial plug from the Freeview box in the lounge (keeping it connected at the aerial outlet on the wall) and plugging it into the other aerial connectors - to see which one leads to the other TV.

First try swapping your freeview boxes over. just to make sure that both boxes have been re tuned for the change over.If both boxes are OK then its most likley an internal wiring problem that meens checking the whole of the cable A for breaks or B for junction boxes. If it is the same down lead for all, there must be some conection that is at fault. If you have a good signal on one box, there is no reason not to get same results upstaires.
I would try a signal booster, the signal gets weaker the longer the cable run
If that doesn't work then DaySaver's probably spot on. It can be a pain sorting out which wire goes where but a bit of trial %26amp; error should sort it
PS you can get a good distribution amplifier for about 拢20
The best thing to do is buy a new ';distribution amplifier';. Mount it in the loft then connect all your downleads to this unit. They come in various versions 2,4,6,8 way etc.
A good one here for 拢49 bargain

Double check all the intermediate wiring between the bedroom lead and the antenna.
Your aerial is not good anymore. Analog TV is out; only digital signal now.
