'House' tv series question?

Can you tell me what exactly happened to House's leg on the show? I have picked up bits and pieces but don't really know what happened. If they ever told, I must have missed that episode.

Thanks so much.'House' tv series question?
He had a blood clot (stroke) in his leg and it caused it to start to die. His girlfriend at the time (Sela Ward) went against his wishes and had his leg operated on to save his life. They had to remove a section of the muscle to save his life and the rest of his leg.'House' tv series question?
House is victim to an infarction in his right leg, which was misdiagnosed by his doctors and resulted in muscle death prior to the events of the series. Despite a corrective operation conducted against his will, House is in near-constant pain and walks with a severe limp, carrying a trademark cane. He bears a terrible scar on his thigh where the dead muscle was excised...

They did talk about it early in the first season...
Okay,

In an episode in season one house is doing a lecture to a bunch of med students and he talks about a patient that goes running one day and falls down. He is taken to the hospital and examined. The patient has developed an enfarction in his lower right side and it is denying blood flow to his right leg and deteriorating his muscle fiber in that area. His doctor, (Cuddy), is too slow to figure out what is wrong with him and by the time she does her recommendation is amputation. In a subsequent episode in season two, when his ex wife returns with her new husband needing House's help, you learn that he was the patient. He refused the amputation and asked to be given treatment and placed in a medical induced coma. He was, but while he was in his coma Cuddy and his wife approved a surgery to remove the degraded muscle tissue, an option House had refused. The limp is a result of the surgery damaging his leg permanently, or so it seems. Apparently the strain of trying to work the leg is effecting his nervous system, that is why he takes the vicodin. If the pain where muscular he would most likely be taking Darvocet instead. And by the way 600 vicodin is a 3 month supply for people in cronic pain(6 a day for 100 days, one every 4 hours, maximum dosage allowable), so the current story line is silly given that any doctor or pharmacy representative would know this and tell that policeman to back off.
